The Big Reveal

As I mentioned we had our big reveal yesterday over at Tangled Textiles.  A cornucopia of different techniques were used in each member's piece.  It was exciting to see how each of us interpreted the theme "games" which was chosen by Beverly.  Here is my piece called Kitty's Kradle based on the old string game I played as a child.

I usually bind my quilts, but this time tried the technique of simply couching the edge with yarn.  It turned out pretty nice I think.

Speaking of reveal, I forgot to show you some of the items that I brought home from the retreat I attended last week.  There was a wonderful antique shop in Orting where I found an antique blouse (gonna use the lace in a crazy quilt) and some hankies.

The fancy ribbon came from Shibori Dragon. and so did these stencils, patterns, silk thread and book.

I also acquired some wonderful batiks at the Quilt Barn.  It's called "acquiring" if you are forming a collection isn't it?

I've been busy

Okay so I have been gone a while.  Just got back this past weekend from a quilting retreat in Orting, Washington.

at a wonderful place called the Wild Rose Quilt Shop and Retreat Centre.  You can check it out here.  Here's a picture of the small group that was there.

There we are on the upper balcony.  Yes it's hard to see the faces, but this gives you an idea of how big the place is.  Retreat centre is upstairs, quilt shop below.  Oh the joy of shopping in one's slippers!

After a few hours of sewing, chatting, eating, and sewing some more, we decided to take a little road trip and visited Tea 4 2 in Puyallup, Washington.  It was a veritable feast for the eyes.  The decor took you back in time,

and the collection of tea pots was impressive.

It was time to head back to the Wild Rose for more creative work with our sewing machines.  I needed to complete the games challenge piece that I was working on for the fiber art group I was invited to join.  We came up with the name Tangled Textiles and got organized with the help of Diane from over at Twelve by Twelve.  Here's just a tidbit of my piece.

Our first reveal is today, so why not hop over there and have a peek.

Till the next time...
